Transforming European Work and Social Protection: A New Proactive Welfare State Fit for the Future World of Work

What is TransEuroWorkS

Global challenges such as digitalisation, the green transition, and the international mobility of workers have substantial effects on European labour markets. Some sectors grow as a consequence of these phenomena, while in others the demand for labour is decreasing. These changes have important implications for workers, households and businesses. In this Horizon Europe project, we explore how these challenges affect Europe’s labour markets. We also investigate how welfare states can help mitigate the potential negative effects of these large transformations.

With researchers in seven European universities and two research institutes, the project is coordinated by Leiden University. To learn more about the project, our team, and our stakeholders, please visit the Project section of our website.

Main Challenges

In this project, we aim to produce a lot of research. We are currently running a working paper series where we present our preliminary findings as well as working papers from other academics on related topics. You can find these outputs in our [Working Papers] section on the website. The final peer-reviewed research can be found in our Publications section.

We also aim to have a societal impact by establishing connections with key interest organisations and policymakers, and by producing policy-relevant research. You can find information about the events we organise and participate in under the [News and Events] section. You can also find our policy briefs in the Policy Briefs section.

Please follow us on social media and subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date on relevant news. If you wish to contact us directly, you can find our contact information in the Contact section.
