Work Packages
TransEuroWorkS’s inter-related work package design between partners and tasks will ensure an organic and collaborative dialogue between the different disciplines in the design and analysis of the research. TransEuroWorkS also proposes a multi-methods approach where research results generated and analysed will be through various methods and speak to each other. Hence, research in WPs will employ both qualitative and quantitative methods.
WP1 – Management, Coordination, Theoretical and Empirical Framework
Leader: LU
The goal is to provide scientific leadership and theoretical consistency throughout the project.
The WP leader will ensure that the project objectives are met with high quality and on time. LU will also coordinate the research and data collection activities and ensure smooth communication between all the partners and with the European Commission. Lastly, it will ensure proper management of the financial and administrative sides of the project. Regarding the ethics requirements, it is expected that a specific WP (10) will ensure compliance throughout the project.
WP2 –
Green Transition, Technological Change, and Welfare Recalibration
Leader: CEPS
The goal is to take stock of the green transition debate and investigate the interplay with
digitalization.
This WP will analyse the labour market impact of the green transition and, in doing so, it tries to explore possible pathways of welfare recalibration to address the challenges raised by the green transition
WP3 –
Transformations, Inclusive Labour Markets, and Well-being
Leader: UK
The goal is to generate knowledge on how flexibilization, induced by digitalization, shapes work patterns.
This WP will try to understand how digitalisation and flexibilization can affect workers’ well-being also by assessing how social protection affects the effects of flexibilization. In addition, it will co-design policies with the aim of ensuring that flexible working results in positive outcomes for workers’ well-being and labour market inclusivity.
WP4 –
Transformation Vulnerabilities, Gender Equality, and Families
Leader: UCD
The goal is to map existing work-life balance (WLB) policies influencing gender roles in Europe.
This WP will identify and systematize how the EU work-life balance policies can affect national gender equality policies (both EU WLB directive and the EU plans for equal pay/transparency directive). Lastly, it will map national and local applied policies related to gender-stratified access to digitalization.
WP5 –
New Forms of Work and Social Dialogue
Leader: UC
The goal is to improve our understanding of the rise of contractual flexibility in the European labour markets related to digitalization, the green transition, and globalisation.
This WP will map the main trends and experiences of emerging forms of contractual flexibility, and it will try to generate knowledge on its possible consequences for access to social protection among various groups. Furthermore, it will explore how social dialogue can contribute to social protection for workers with contractual flexibility.
WP6 –
Labour Markets, New Forms of Work, and Politics of Social Protection
Leader: UG
The goal is to assess the capacity of social protection programs to include atypical workers and new forms of work.
This WP will try to improve understanding of how sociodemographic and labour market changes condition the redistributive effects of existing social programs. In this sense, it will also identify regulatory reforms with the potential of boosting the redistributive effects of compensatory government spending programs
WP7 –
New Social Policy Directions: Experimental Evidence on Social and Labour Market Outcomes
Leader: UB
The goal is to implement a field experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of reskilling
programs.
This WP will investigate and understand whether participating in reskilling programs can improve individual labour market outcomes, psychological well-being, and socio-political attitudes. To do so, it will seek to improve existing retraining programs through collaboration between service providers and researchers.
WP8 –
Future of EU-level Social Policy Coordination
Leader: LU
The goal is to fill the knowledge gaps on the inequalities of social protection in the changing
landscape of EU labour markets through the lenses of sustainability, inclusivity, and mobility.
This WP will break new theoretical and methodological bases by co-designing, collecting, and analysing evidence regarding the limits and opportunities of coordinated governance of welfare provision. In addition, it will formulate new research and policy pathways for the foundations of EU-level social policy coordination.
WP9 –
Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication
Leader: ZAB
The goal is to disseminate and communicate activities oriented to show the attractiveness of the
results achieved and their impact on a target audience composed of key stakeholders already identified.
This WP will design and implement a comprehensive strategy for the project stakeholders’ engagement and facilitate skills in co-creation methodologies. To achieve so, it will implement dissemination and communication strategies integrated within the engagement of the associations, stakeholders, and participatory citizenship.
